We had the pleasure of getting to know Juri Shumakov before his death. In our correspondences with him, he always felt it was a good way to properly balance a fly to avoid hook hang down. By simply adding three cones to the plastic lining of the tube a beautifully segmented body can be created, we like to tie in both wing and hackle in between each cone. We also add a wing and hackle behind the first cone and in front of the last cone. This gives the patterns a great deal of bulk which still sinks quickly because of the added weight of the cones. These flies have to be seen, the fish will love them too!
